Stephen Fulton Misses Weight by 6.5 lbs, Sinks Second Spence-Tszyu Undercard Bout
Fulton tipped the scales at 139.5 lbs for a 133-lb catchweight against Liam Wilson — his second straight weight miss, and this time the fight is off entirely.

Stephen Fulton has done it again. The former unified super bantamweight champion turned up 6.5 lbs over the 133-lb catchweight for his scheduled bout with Liam Wilson on the Spence vs Tszyu card, weighing in at a staggering 139.5 lbs. The fight is now scrapped, and the pay-per-view has lost its second featured undercard attraction.
To put the number in perspective: 133 sits above super featherweight but below lightweight. Fulton didn't just miss it — he'd have blown past the 135-lb lightweight limit too. There's no version of the last 72 hours where the 23-2 (8 KO) fighter, currently ranked #4 at featherweight in the FightSplit database, could have honestly believed he'd hit the mark.
A Pattern of Missed Weight
This is the ugly part: it's back-to-back weight misses for Fulton. Last time out, he came in 2 lbs heavy against O'Shaquie Foster, forcing the WBC and PBC to reshuffle the bout into an interim lightweight title fight rather than scrap it. Foster then handed him a lopsided unanimous-decision loss. This miss is three times worse, and there's no salvaging it — Fulton won't even make the walk.
Spare a thought for Wilson (18-3, 10 KO), who prepped for a meaningful win on a big platform and gets nothing but a wasted camp. And promoters should think hard before signing Fulton again. Fighters recover from weight scandals all the time in this sport, but a guy who repeatedly can't hit the scale turns every booking into a gamble on your whole card.
A Thinning Undercard
The card was already thinning out before this. Jermall Charlo was pulled from his scheduled fight with Koen Mazoudier, so between that cancellation and the Fulton fiasco, the undercard beneath the main event is looking sparse heading into a 9 pm ET start.
The good news for the top line: both headliners made weight cleanly. Errol Spence Jr. and Tim Tszyu each hit 159 lbs, comfortably under the 160-lb ceiling. That limit was itself a compromise — the bout was originally contracted at 158 before Spence requested the bump a few days back. At least the fight everyone paid for is intact.
